Artist Statement
In my effort to live in the here and now, I find my artwork reflecting this theme. To stop and look is to really see, and that often means discovering an impactful and intricate insight. The ability to observe a natural causation, and transfer my understanding of that image into a piece of art is really my main motive. I find incentive in images and notions that we seem to place into the mundane, but in actuality, have an immense amount of amusing and beautiful qualities.
Printmaking is my process of choice because the approach allows for chance. It is a balance of controlling the process and deciding which happenstances to keep. In this way, I feel the most freedom with printmaking, and I hope that sense is brought to life for viewers. I hope that others can experience a feeling of wonder and awe from my art, similar to what I experienced while creating it.
